  • Innovative thinking from inventive cuisine to thriving arts and culture

Local Lifestyle

Washington is a buzzing city with a lot of activity happening all the time. The residents are highly educated and reportedly receive a high rate of income. If you like hot summers, Washington will probably have the perfect weather. It’s subtropical, with chilly winters, hot, humid summers, and a fair amount of rain. While Washington got its reputation for being a hard-working city for a reason, the party just as hard to make up for it.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

In Washington DC, you’ll find cuisine from all over the world. After hitting up one of the popular restaurants the city has to offer, you can go to the symphony, check out the on-stage talent, or hit up a bar to see some local bands. If you’re more of a sports fan, you can catch a pro or college game.
Some popular restaurants include Del Mar, which features food from the Mediterranean coast and the Islands of Spain. Le Diplomate is a versatile place, which pays tribute to French cafe culture. For a hearty meal, there isn’t much that’s better than a perfectly cooked steak. If this is more to your liking, try Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons Hotel. For a combination of good food and rich history, check out Old Ebbitt Grill, the oldest saloon in Washington.

Things to Do

The National Mall will be your go-to destination if you want to see the historical monuments this capital city is known for, such as the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. From there, you can see what’s happening at Capitol Hill. You can have a picnic beside the Bartholdi Fountain or even see Congress in session.

There is always a variety of performances on the program at the Kennedy Center, and if you’re looking for something educational, the Smithsonian Institute has no shortage of interesting artifacts and galleries. From mid-March to mid-April, Washington holds a spring festival called the National Cherry Blossom Festival to celebrate the namesake pink blooms. It’s a month-long festival full of fun, food, and culture.
